HOW DOES THE LASER CREATE THE DEPTH OR 3D EFFECT IN THE WOOD?
Our laser system creates a realistic 3D effect by engraving at variable depths based on grayscale values. The KCAM software is capable of recognizing and processing a full range of 256 distinct shades of gray, where each shade directly corresponds to a precise engraving depth command for the laser.
For a clear illustration: suppose you create a 3‑inch square design with one half solid black and the other half light gray. When processing this file, the laser can typically run at an engraving speed of 30–40 inches per second. The solid black areas will instruct the laser to cut significantly deeper into materials such as wood, while the light gray areas will produce only a shallow, fine surface mark — resulting in a natural, layered 3D appearance without manual depth adjustment.
